Women’s Therapeutic Writing Group

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”.

Women’s Stories

If there is one thing I wish for women in the second half of life, it is to value your voice. Your voice is born from years of sorrows beyond comprehension, and joy that often felt fleeting; from hesitating in doubt and walking in wisdom; from tapping into the feminine and marching through challenges with bold resolve.

I want us to write and write together, clarifying our thoughts with the smoothness of our pens or the clacks of our computers. Join me for this unique therapeutic writing class, where we narrate our stories and illuminate the meaning of this life.

Who is this group for?

This course is for any woman who is seeking to find clarity in her life through the art of writing. We will work through the fear of writing that first sentence and any blocks that come along the way. We will share the moments of clarity, the stories that brought us to our knees, and the moments of courage that raised our ceilings. For those who wish to write but have a hard time with spelling and grammar, I will help you learn to use the computer to write from audio, translate, or correct spelling and grammar. Writing skills don’t need to be an obstacle to sharing your stories.

What will I get out of the Women’s Therapeutic Writing Group?

You have a story in you! It needs time, space, and support to manifest and be heard. We will work with an evidence-based therapy modality called Narrative Therapy that helps people heal using their own stories. This 5-week support group includes writing, reflecting, finding compassion for self, assigning meaning, and demonstrating resilience. We will work on difficult emotions like anger, regret, challenging relationships, and grief. Each class will have a theme and reflective writing prompts to work on in-between sessions. Participants will have an opportunity to publish your writing on the Living Boldly Blog. Join us for the Women’s Therapeutic Writing Support Group starting in January.

How do I sign up?

Let’s do an exploratory call to make sure that this group is a good match. Please email or text me to set up a time to talk.

I struggled when I first started writing to process my thoughts. I was in my 50s, and up until then, I had only written manuals for yoga trainings, favoring outlines over paragraphs. Anything I wrote also needed a lot of editing, which I found discouraging. When I started setting aside time to write my thoughts, only short paragraphs came. But after a few months of dedicated writing time, my thoughts flowed more easily, and I began using apps that corrected my spelling and grammar, so I didn’t need as much editing and wasn’t so embarrassed by my lack of grammar skills. What I love about writing is that it clarifies my thoughts. It helps me make meaning of the challenges in my life and hone in on what my purpose is. Clarity of purpose is freeing and uplifting for me!

I have a soft spot for women in the second half of life. Every time I write to women in this stage, I feel so much love in my heart. We have a lot to process. Our beautiful lives are filled with sacrifice for those we love, doubt born from the negative messages of society, and the courage to swim upstream. Some of us have loved until our heartspace felt empty, and yet again replenished ourselves by discovering yet another wellspring of love to draw from.
